After successful completion of this course and practical workplace observation you are issued with a nationally recognised SITXFSA101 – Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety SOA. The Australian Training Framework (ATF) is the national set of standards which assures nationally consistent, high-quality training and assessment services for the clients of Australia’s vocational education and training system
Students are provided with the following information during the course, to assist to build the breadth and depth of their knowledge in preparation for assessment:
- Readings
- Websites
- Case studies
The following assessment tools are used to determine a student’s competence:
- Knowledge questions where the participant must select the response/s that best answer/s the question (multiple choice).
- Knowledge questions that require the participant to respond by selecting True or False.
- Knowledge questions that require the participant to respond by selecting all correct responses (multi response).
- Interactive Activities – These are designed to focus on important elements of the course content.
A mixture of these tools are used across the unit.
To be deemed competent in this unit, you are required to correctly answer 100% of all online questions in ALL assessment stages. When undertaking assessments, you will have two attempts to answer the assessment questions correctly.
For how long is my Food Handling Statement of Attainment valid?
- Your Food Handling Statement of Attainment will last forever, no matter what date you completed the training.
When will I receive my Food Handling certification?
- You must complete a Practical Workplace Observation assessment in addition to your online assessments to be marked competent and receive your certification.

- Good news! Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety (Level 1 Food Handling) is a prerequisite for SITXFSA201 Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices (Level 2 Food Safety Supervisor) in the states of QLD, NSW and VIC.

Are international students permitted to complete our course?
- Yes…Serve Wise is partnered with ASMI a CRICOS provider. In accordance withEducation (international Student) ACT 2018 if you are an international student on a student Visa, you are to apply for to a CRICOS approved provider.
Whilst this course does not have any formal pre requisites, you must have access to a workplace under which you can undertake a workplace observation. This observation must be signed off by a supervisor that holds a Statement of Attainment in this unit as a minimum.
